Ladies and gentlemen, here’s a little mix (click the picture to download) I had a helping hand in put together by Babe Rainbow and presented by the fine gentlemen of CBD.
And a little insight into how this idea hit me:
“First off, fuck your bitch and the clique you claim.”
Those were the words that sparked the Love + Hate mix. Tupac’s words, chopped and screwed, from a DJ D mixtape that sustained me through the winter and on into the summer. Driving through sleet with Tupac rapping at a syrupy crawl, it all made sense. Some music was just better slowed, pitched down, and chopped to perfection. The bass hits harder, the repeated phrases mean more, and the chops take you to worlds beyond the words. It’s about atmosphere and, what good music should always be aboutt, feeling. Love and Hate? Those are pretty classic feelings. So gon’ head and feel something to Babe’s mix, combat on the one side lovers only on the other.
