Well it’s official, I’ve been signed to Warp Records for a 7-song EP to be released February 8/10. Despite already physically signing a contract and hold the 12” test pressings, it wasn’t really real until now. Probably because I spend too much time staring at a screen.

Go to Bleep and pre-order a record, check out my Warp artist page (wedged between Autechre and Battles - B-)), and go to baberainbow.com because it looks incredible thanks to Salazar and DC&I.

Exclaim: Vancouver’s Babe Rainbow Signs with Warp Records, Readies Debut EP for February

Besides co-creating the awesome Mental Beast web series and curating Vancouver’s annual Music Waste festival, man-about-town Cameron Reed has also been hard at work with his electronic project, Babe Rainbow. Under that moniker, Reed’s hazy experiments in dub-step and otherworldly soundscapes have earned some serious blog love across the spectrum, including a write-up in our own Click Hear section in July. Now, he has told us that he’ll be releasing his debut EP on legendary electronic imprint Warp Records this February.

Vancouver’s Babe Rainbow is like a pot of gold at the end of the blogroll of cookie-cutter electronic acts. Helmed by West Coast producer Cameron Reed, the dubstep-inspired solo project has taken the Internet by storm and landed a deal with prestigious Warp Records for his debut EP, due in February.

The official Babe Rainbow website designed by the talented folks at David Christy & Internet is now live. It features one of seven short videos produced by Salazar film to accompany one of the seven songs that’ll be released on my upcoming EP in February. There is a different video for each song and a new one will be added to the site every couple weeks leading up to the release.

Babe Rainbow is in FACT Magazine for a remix I did of Comanechi’s new single on Merok Records. You can download the song from the website for one week.

Here’s what they wrote:

On this remix Babe Rainbow, aka Cameron Reed, takes the quasi-pop of Comanechi and chops and screws it into a dreamlike hex of echoed howls and dying synths that sounds a bit like John from Salem slipping in and out of a nice dream. Which let’s face it, he probably doesn’t have too often.
